The Alexandria Killings

At the height of British colonial rule in Alexandria (Egypt), two sisters, Raya and Sakina, defy societal norms and rise from rags to riches by running a string of profitable "Gentleman’s Clubs“. These clubs attract the best and worst of Egypt’s ruling class including British army officers, vagrants and the Alexiandrian aristocracy. Pit against a merciless patriarchal system, the sisters achieve rapid success by involving Al Futtuwa, an underground league of gentlemen that runs influential businesses behind the scenes. However, their empire begins to unravel as a series of suspicious deaths and disappearances follows them, leading to their eventual imprisonment and unprecedented capital punishment for women at the time. The “Alexandria Killings” is the first instalment in the planned true Arab Crime Anthology series.
